There are also some death-row dogs we would like to save, but we need your help.

Please make a donation  to help us save more malamute lives! The homeless furries depend on YOU!
Please help them to have a chance at the life they deserve! Thank you.

Thank Woooooo!

IAMRA IS A 501c3 CHARITY

Please understand that malamutes often look different in person than in the pictures -
it isn't always possible for us to get a good quality photo of each dog.
Personality should be the number one concern when choosing a malamute companion -
please fill out the adoption information form and come meet some of our personalities!
Please help us support our Sanctuary Sweethearts, dogs that because of age or condition
are not available for adoption, but really need an extra helping paw so we can continue
to care for them.
Can you sponsor a Sanctuary Sweetheart?

WOOKIE - Sanctuary Sweetheart (not available for adoption)

Wookie is a sweet older longcoated boy with a calm temperament. He is in the 8-10 year old range. We don't know much about Wookie's life before he came to us, but in his older age, he is having some problems with his joints and also continence issues. Lucky Wookie will live out his days in a wonderful foster home, with the help of his generous sponsors

Wookie's Sponsors:  1. Judy and Terry and IAMRA alum Buddy (at the Bridge).  2. Tom and Leighanne Vorel, in loving memory of Rudy. 3. The mini-mushers (All the White Stuff), his foster siblings

Thank you Tammie for taking care of sweet old Wookie, and many thanks to his generous sponsors!

YUKI    ***AT RAINBOW BRIDGE 1-31-2010, wear your silver harness with pride sweet boy

This fellow is out of time in a WI shelter - and he is also HEARTWORM POSITIVE.  Our thanks to AMCW for helping with a donation for this sweet boy to cure his heartworms! Yuki is about 8 years old, and is a total love! He is housebroken, has great manners, but prefers not to be left alone - so the company of people (and maybe even a friendly female dog) are a must for this handsome big fellow.  YUKI has been diagnosed with  spondylosis - he will need meds and supplements for the rest of his life. Can you help us with the cost? Despite his condition, Yuki is an active and very happy fellow!

YUKI NEEDS SPONSORS FOR HIS MEDS AND SUPPLEMENTS. THEY ARE COSTING APPROX $200 A MONTH - ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP! A donation was made, in loving memory of Uncle Joe, and his dog Sox, now together at the Bridge.

YUKI HAS A MONTHLY SPONSOR!  From Katie and Sasha the Wonder Malamute!

YUKI HAS MICROCHIP SPONSOR! Tail wags to PJ and the BigDogs!

Yuki is in foster care - thanks Dave and Sue!

MERCY                                                                   May 2009

Mercy is a sweet mature longcoated girl of about 9+ years old. She was out of time in a WV shelter. Poor Mercy has not had the best life - she arrived with badly infected ears :( She loves everyone, and just wants to cuddle.  We've cleared up her ears, and she is feeling much better! (tho she is very hard of hearing now) She has quite a spring in her step for a mature gal, and has a very sweet nature - she seems fine with non dominant male dogs of the same activity level, and appears to be cat tolerant as well! She would be a great addition for someone who is looking for an easy well behaved senior malamute companion.

MERCY HAS A SPAY SPONSOR! In loving memory of Irene, on her birthday, from Gloria G

MERCY  HAS A MONTHLY SPONSOR! Wooo woooos to the Tikalsky pack!

Bleys is a very handsome fellow that was out of time at a downstate shelter. He is a longcoat, and was badly matted so the shelter needed to shave him to make him comfortable. He is around 3 or 4 years old, and seems fairly well behaved - tho he is very strong and needs to learn some leash manners. He is housebroken,  and does well with his female canine housemates!

BLEYS HAS A NEUTER SPONSOR! With love from the Bleyderbug Fan Club

Pete is a pistol! This big handsome 3-4 year old boy was turned into a shelter because his owner could no longer care for him. He is rowdy and strong, but very sweet. He does fine with female dogs - but can be pushy with them over food. He would do very well with an active experienced malamute person!

PETE NEEDS A MONTHLY SPONSOR!

PETE is in foster care - thanks Barb N!

Boomer was out of time at an area shelter. This approx 2 year old boy is sweet as can be - and handsome too. At first he is quite the big strong handful, but after settling down a bit, it's apparent that someone has spent a little time with him teaching him a few basic commands. He would love a malamute experienced active home to call his own!

Dogs at area shelters:

BEWARE!! There are many 'rescues' that are nothing more than glorified puppy brokers! Be sure that ANY  animal you adopt is fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, and all necessary shots and tests. Reputable rescues include all this, and more!  You don't want to fall victim to 'puppies for profit' from a non-legitimate rescue!

For a list of shelter dogs near you, visit www.petfinder.com

Please check out Illinois Valley Animal Rescue - they have  malamute mixes available! And many other furries too! Won't you consider giving one (or more!) a home?

12 million dogs a year are put to death because of overpopulation. An estimated 30% of them are purebreds, and more than half are under the age of two. Please consider saving a life and adopting your next best friend!
