Navigation Menu: HOME [Available dogs]
IAMRA currently has quite a few dogs in paid boarding kennels with the daily meter running that need a foster home. There are also some death-row dogs we would like to save, but we need your help. Please make a donation to help us save more malamute lives! The homeless furries depend on YOU! Please help them to have a chance at the life they deserve! Thank you.
Please understand that malamutes often look different in person than in the pictures - it isn't always possible for us to get a good quality photo of each dog. Personality should be the number one concern when choosing a malamute companion - please fill out the adoption information form and come meet some of our personalities!

| ARWEN
May 2008
Arwen was pulled from a high kill pound in KY when she was out of time. She is a darling little girl, with a beautiful red coat, about 3-5 years old, and a wonderful companion - she adores the company of people and is very cuddly and snuggly. She is housebroken and crate trained. She does NOT care for the company of other dogs, tho she is making a small amount progress in that department! She would love to be an only spoiled princess! OUR THANKS to those who helped Arwen to be treated for Heartworm. She is fully recovered! Nancy, who made a donation in loving memory of Sage, her once in a lifetime companion, Smokey's (Princess Phoebe) parents, in her honor, Kathy Ferragamo and her pack, and Dan and Nettie and their IAMRA kids Molly and Jack , and Bill & Ruth Boenitz of Ellesmere Alaskan Malamutes

| SQUID
May 2009
This female pup has had a rough start in her life, but thanks to our friends at ARL in Iowa, she is here with IAMRA now! This sweet 6 month old female will need a malamute experienced adult home (no small kids), with someone who is able to spend alot of time with her, give her a calm, steady routine, and has a securely fenced yard. She is a very very sweet pup, but her early life was not too stable, she was in several homes that did not understand the commitment needed to take care of a malamute puppy. Prospective adoptors will need to submit a puppy plan with their application.

Payment for adoption and deposit can be made by cash, certified check, cashiers check or money order. Regrettably, we can no longer accept personal checks for adoptions.
Dogs at area shelters:
BEWARE!! There are many 'rescues' that are nothing more than glorified puppy brokers! Be sure that ANY animal you adopt is fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, and all necessary shots and tests. Reputable rescues include all this, and more! You don't want to fall victim to 'puppies for profit' from a non-legitimate rescue!
| DEXTER
This big goof is Dexter, a 5-6 year old white Malamute. He needs to be an only pet as he doesn't care for other animals, but he absolutely adores people. He especially loves back and butt scratches and will do a happy dance for the right scratch. He is really a beautiful guy with warm brown eyes. As you can tell by his face, he is a bit of a character. This big lug is a bit of a handful on a leash, so could use a bit of obedience training. He tends to get in trouble when he's bored, so an environment that is both physically and mentally stimulating would be best. He would be great for mushing or pulling as working dogs love to work! Dexter can climb a five foot fence so would need malamute proof fencing or to always be on a leash. Dexter is neutered and housetrained. For information oh how to adopt, contact Alyson at alysonlindsay77@yahoo.com

| SASHA
June 2009
Beloved Sasha isn’t your normal adopt-me-to-save-my-life case. Sasha already got lucky that way more than 8 years ago when she was rescued from a pound in Ohio. Special girl that she is, Sasha was taken into a guide dog training program, graduated handsomely, and has spent the past 8 years being the loving furry “eyes” for her mom. Unfortunately, service dogs can’t continue to work forever and, living in an apartment from which she is gone 11-12 hours each day for work, her mom can’t continue to be a good home for Sasha in her doggy retirement. So,
Sasha needs you. She is an obviously beautiful husky, approximately 9
years old, who has served well and faithfully and now deserves a loving
retirement home for her golden years. She is excellently trained,
spayed, current on vaccinations, recently checked for hip
trouble—turned out to just be muscular, gets along with both dogs and
cats, and tolerates visits from mom’s grandchildren but would probably
prefer a home without resident little ones. Sasha is a doll, and has
been a very big part of mom’s life for 8 years so if there’s any way
her new family could allow mom to hear about her and even occasionally
visit, everyone would be very happy. Don’t
you need a little Sasha TLC in your life? She deserves yours! Several
rescue groups are working together to help find Sasha’s new home so,
yes, you may see her posted on more than one site. Her adoption process
will include an application, references, and home visit. If you are
interested in becoming Sasha’s new family or getting more info about
her, please contact her adoption coordinator, Linda, at
knollcreek88@aol.com
or 317-439-1080 today.

| KAISHA
MAY 2009
Kaisha is a 3 year old Alaskan Malamute
who spent the first year of her life with a loving lady who had to
move and gave Kaisha to her daughter. During her two year stay
with daughter, Kaisha was left out in the yard with Labrador
retrievers with little attention from her owner. She frequently
dug under the fence and ran away, picked up many times by Animal
Control. The last time she got out of the yard the lab escaped
and owner would not allow Kaisha to return home, this was on April
20th. I found Kaisha at the shelter on April 25 and knew she was
too wonderful to risk being euthanized, so I took her home. Much
to my dismay she does not get along with my 2 year old female Siberian
Husky. Kaisha is an inside dog, who is happiest when she is with
her owner. She is completely house broken, knows how to sit and
stay. Kaisha is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed and
microchipped. I am asking a $200 adoption fee to insure she is
getting a good home. If interested in this wonderful girl,
please contact Linda at gvm3stps@charter.net
