What does it cost?

As of June 1st 2006 the adoption costs will be as follows:

$200 for adult dogs, $250 for puppies under 12 months, and $100 for seniors 8 and over. We will also require an additional $100 contract deposit, that will be refunded upon completion of contractual obligations associated with adoption. Payment for adoption and deposit can be made by cash, certified check, cashiers check or money order. Regrettably, we can no longer accept personal checks for adoptions.

Our dogs are fully vetted - current on all shots, heartworm negative and on year round preventative, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and any additional medical needs are taken care of prior to adoption.

When you compare adopting from rescue  to buying a dog elsewhere, and paying for all the vet costs yourself (on top of the price of the dog!)  you can see what a good deal rescue is!

Cost of Purebred Dog/Puppy                    $750 - $1500

Series of puppy shots/deworming             $100 -  $250

Fecal, urinalysis, bloodwork, etc               $100 -  $200

Spay or Neuter                                         $150 -  $300

Annual Heartworm Test & Preventative       $  75 - $100

Flea/Tick preventative in summer months  $  50 -  $100

Annual Rabies & DHLPP Shots                 $   50 - $100

Microchip insertion and registration            $  45 - $ 65

Also, don't forget the cost of feeding, grooming, & training! This adds up to hundreds of dollars each year!

So you see, when you choose to adopt a rescue dog, not only are you giving a home to a deserving pet, but you are getting a bargain!

REMEMBER-  NEVER BUY A PUPPY AT A PET STORE, or from an irresponsible breeder.  If you are looking to purchase a puppy, IAMRA is happy to refer you to a responsible breeder.

RESCUE DOES NOT "BUY DOGS" OR "MAKE MONEY" ON RESCUES. OUR AVERAGE COST IS WELL OVER  $ 700 PER DOG (vetting and boarding), WITH OUR ADOPTION FEES COVERING LESS THAN ONE THIRD OF THAT AMOUNT . THE DIFFERENCE IS MADE UP WITH DONATIONS FROM KIND PEOPLE LIKE YOU!
