IAMRA's Sanctuary Sweethearts

Sanctuary Sweethearts at IAMRA are dogs that for various reasons are deemed unadoptable.  So IAMRA will provide them with their forever homes.  Many many thanks to those of you who provide your continuing donations to help us care for our dogs!!!

Dakota

Picture
DAKOTA  is  is our IAMRA mascot. He has shown us, time and again, that we are his family, and with all of us he will have the forever home he has dreamed of.  We will care for him always, with the help of his generous sponsors.

Dakota's Boarding Sponsors: 1. In memory of Lobo, a dear friend.  2. Many thanks to PJ and the BigDogs!  3. Wooos to Gloria G and family! 4. Ozzie Erlichman and his non-furry parents, Rachel and Marc  5&6. Anonymous friends of the malamutes!

Many thanks to Dakotas sponsors for making it possible for us to care for him.

5/5/12 - Sad news, Dakota has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma. We will keep him happy and pain free for as long as we can. Donations for extra treats for him are greatly appreciated.

Dinah

Picture
Dinah was out of time at a downstate pound. Over the years she has been with us, her physical condition has deteriorated. First it was a tumor removal, then recurrent bladder issues - and now poor Dinah has rather severe arthritis in her hips and spine. We of course will continue to do everything we can to keep this sweet, 9 or 10 year old girl doing her best.

Dinah's sponsors: 1. Lori and Denis, in honor of Shiloh and in memory of Bixby  & Lexie    2. Anonymous friends of the malamutes!

Dinah is in sanctuary at Nancy's - and many thanks to her sponsors for making sure this girl is taken care of!

Valentino

Picture
Valentino has a neurological condition that our vets have not been able to "cure", but we have been working with our vets to find treatments/medications that can help him live a long and happy life.

Valentino has a monthly sponsor! Lori and Denis, in honor of Shiloh and in memory of Bixby  & Lexie

Valentino has a second monthly sponsor! Our thanks to Mark, Diane, and IAMRA alum Phoenix.

Valentino is in sanctuary at Ann's - thank you Ann for taking such great care of him!

Aragorn

Picture
This is Aragorn, one of the Aluk dogs from the Montana bust. Poor Aragorn is one of the most shy and needy of the 160+ dogs confiscated in the sad situation. Many of you followed his story, when he escaped from his new adoptors, and was on the lam for 21 grueling days. Since being caught, he has gone to live with a wonderful rehabber of shy dogs. His recovery is slow, baby steps, getting to know and trust humans. At present, he is not adoptable, and we  have no way to gauge when/if he might become more of a “normal” dog, so for now  he will stay in sanctuary with his rehabber.

Aragorn has one monthly sponsor from Stacie, Miss Jasmine, Harry Monster, and little Miss Mardy.

Aragorn has a second monthly sponsor. With love from Neo and Milly.

Aragron is in Sanctuary at Kelly’s.

Marty

Picture
Meet Marty (fka Titan). This poor senior fellow of 13 was dumped by his family in a kill shelter in downstate Illinois. We just couldn’t leave him there  to die. He is in rough shape, filthy, matted, and sad. He needs a complete  senior work-up, after which time we’ll address his medical needs, which we  believe may be many. He also has a bulging right eye, which is likely glaucoma,  a painful condition, so he will need to see an eye specialist.

Marty has a monthly sponsor! Our thanks to Mark, Diane, and IAMRA alum Phoenix.

Marty has an additional monthly sponsor! From Blind Dog Rescue Alliance alumni Pete and Mabel.

Marty has another sponsor!  Tail wags to sweet Rora who hopes that Marty is feeling better soon!

Additional donations for his vet care costs are also greatly appreciated.

Marty is in Sanctuary at Vicky’s.

Arnold

Picture
Poor Arnold, someone dumped this poor 14 year old fellow in a shelter – no pet deserves to be treated like that at the end of life’s journey. Thanks to our friends at OTRA, Arnold is safely in our care. He is very old, very thin, and in very poor condition – he has a grade 3 heart murmur, and from clinical signs,  our vets suspect some kind of cancer. But – he is HAPPY, has a great appetite, and loves to be loved. We are starting him on meds to make him feel better, and  giving him lots of great food – and of course tons of love. We can’t do anything about the life he had before he came to us, but we can make sure that for the rest of his days, Arnold will be spoiled and loved.

Arnold has a microchip sponsor. Thanks Clare Ann and her rescue dog, Britney Ann.

Arnold is in Sanctuary, and donations for his care are greatly appreciated!
