This young fellow came to us all the way from Texas! He is a sweet young pup, very friendly, and full of puppy mischief - he likes to chew and play in water - and he especially loves to dig! He is friendly and sweet and would be a great addition for an active family!

Myla is a pretty and sweet 5 year old girl looking for a new home - her humans were transferred out of the country, and were unable to take their precious girl with them :( Myla has been loved and well cared for her whole life, and is missing having humans of her own. She has wonderful house and leash manners, but is very shy when she meets new people. Once she gets to know you, she is very loving!

At first he is quite the big strong handful, but after settling down a bit, it's apparent that someone has spent a little time with him teaching him a few basic commands. What a wonderful girl Jony is! She is about 6 or 7 years old, and is calm and easygoing, and loves everyone (even other females if they are good with her). She is a snuggler with all people, very mellow and laid back. She appears to be cat tolerant as well! She is not fond of thumderstorms - but she sure seems to love everything and everyone else! She is a very nice girl, would be great for someone just getting to know the breed - of course would do fine in an experienced home too!

This fellow was out of time at a shelter in MI that sells dogs to research or gasses to kill them :( We couldn't let that happen. Our thanks to Steve and CTHAA for getting him sprung so he could come to IAMRA. He is about 2 years old, and a very happy bouncy fellow, He plays well with his female housemate, and is housebroken and knows some basic commands. He would do best in an experienced home with no small children. He loves to go for walks, and would be a great walking/running companion!

Arwen was pulled from a high kill pound in KY when she was out of time. She is a darling little girl, with a beautiful red coat, about 3-5 years old, and a wonderful companion - she adores the company of people and is very cuddly and snuggly. She is housebroken and crate trained, she does not have any issues with possessiveness or food guarding, and she loves tummy rubs! She really wants to please people. She does NOT care for the company of other dogs, tho she is making a small amount progress in that department ( tho cannot live with another dog, can tolerant non dominant dogs in the next kennel/yard). She also likes to chase cats - so Arwen needs to be
an "only child" - she would LOVE to be an only spoiled princess!

This female pup has had a rough start in her life, but thanks to our friends at ARL in Iowa, she is here with IAMRA now! She is a very very sweet pup, but her early life was not too stable, she was in several homes that did not understand the commitment needed to take care of a malamute puppy.

NITRO came to us from a high kill shelter....we can't imagine why anyone would leave this sweet 12-18 month old boy behind! He loves to be around people, and is good with other dogs. This sweet fellow is just a pup! He is about 15 months old, and loves everyone. He does well with other dogs, and even seems to be ok around dog-savvy cats. He is sweet as can be, very energetic, is housebroken, and learning the basics in obedience.

Ukko is a very handsome white mal. He is around 21 months old , and will need an active home - he is like the energizer bunny! He does well with female dogs (tho is rowdy!) and likes bigger kids. (Too rowdy for the little ones). He is a real sweetie, has the sweetest disposition in the world, but will need LOTS of exercise and patience - after all, he's only a pup!

Frodo is a sweet mid-age boy whose owner died, leaving him with no where to go. Frodo is dog friendly, very people friendly, housebroken, just likes to hang out and be loved! Frodo appears to have mild epilepsy, so will need an (inexpensive) pill twice a day and with medication, will lead a normal, full life!

IGLOO is a very handsome 3-4 year old male. He is definitely all malamute in attitude, and would be perfect for a malamute experienced adult home. He does very well with other dogs, and would be a great working dog, sledding, hiking, weight pulling.

Pumpkin and Sheba were dumped at a downstate shelter. We don't know much about them, except they are very sweet girls! They would like a home together, but if they can't be together, a home with another doggie friend would be great! Pumpkin is a beautiful red loncoated girl, about a year old.

Chief Johnny is as sweet as they come! This fellow came to us from a high kill shelter, and was just a bedragled mess, and acted much older than his age. But a bath and some TLC have this sweet fellow looking and feeling good! He is 3-5 years old, and very mellow and sweet. He is quite a talker too!

Andy - 546

Andy is a VERY sweet boy, about 2 years old. He was being transferred from a high kill rural pound to a low kill shelter, when it was discovered he was HW positive, and could not be accepted by the shelter. So Andy came to us. He is a malamute-anatolian/ mix. He is a WONDERFUL boy, very loving and friendly. We felt he didn't deserve to die, just because some human failed to give him his monthly preventative. Lucky - 545

Lucky is a very loving and affectionate 7-8 year old male. He loves to give kisses, and run and play in the yard! This handsome boy is housetrained, knows basic commands, and walks well on a leash. No small kids tho - even for his age, he is a rambunctious fellow! Older kids would be fine. This is true of ALL big dogs - they can easily knock over a small child. Lucky likes kids, but acts like a young dog for his age :)

BRUTUS was in a pound in Gary Indiana, when we heard about him he only had hours to live. Luckily a few IAMRA volunteers (thank you Tammy K and Bonnie) stepped up to get him to safety and pay his boarding til we could make arrangements for him. And we're so thankful they did. She is small, and would make a great family addition!

Elijah is a mature fellow 5+ years old from a high-kill shelter in Michigan. His sweet "Woo Woo's" convinced the shelter workers to contact IAMRA . Elijah is a real sweetie, likes belly rubs, walks well on a leash, and is happy towards everyone he's met. He seems dog-friendly, and has wanted to be introduced to his foster family of dogs. He's crate-trained, and very happy to nap in his crate when no one else is home. He rides well in the car too! He does have arthritis in one hip, and takes supplemets for that.

Toothless Tessie (she isn't really toothless, but is missing a few in front) is a darling, and sad, mature girl that was out of time in an Ohio pound. She is a sweetheart, a pleaser, and missing a few teeth doesn't hamper her ability to eat - we don't think she knew what treats were - but she does now! Bandit 2 - 482

Look at this adorable woolie boy! He is about a year old, and was rescued by a good Samaritan - his "owner" was going to sell him at a flea market! Thank goodness the Good Sam stepped in, and Bandit is now safe with us at IAMRA. He is a happy bouncy pup, and seems to do well with most other dogs, females, and some laid back males. He's too much "puppy" for small kids tho.

SHANDI is about 18 months old, and has not had a great life :( She was dumped by a "breeder" for not getting along with other dogs or kids. It was just an excuse, as she doesn't seem to have a problem with either. This poor girl however, was never socialized and possibly mistreated, she is terrified of just about everything. She needs a home with alot of patience and love.

TORO is one of a family of three malamutes left in a shelter in Indiana. IAMRA is making room for them one at a time. Toro hasn't had much of a good life, he and his brother and sister were tied outside their whole lives :(

He has very nice manners, but does seem to have a bit of separation anxiety - he just loves to be with people so much! This pretty girl was left at the vets to be euthanized because her "parents" got a divorce. She is about 4 years old, and is mostly malamute - we see a little something else in her. She is sweet, does well with non dominant males, and loves people! She is good with kids - would love a family to call her own and play with.

Kisa is a beautiful 6yo spayed female registered Malamute who is up to date on all vaccinations. The people who have her now say she's approx. 65 lbs. She's said to be excellent with all people and children, however she is iffy towards other dogs. Which may be because she's totally out of her element and is with an unexperienced dog person - or of course maybe she's just picky.

Sweet Camille is a pretty light-colored girl with some red/tan colors. She is about 7 months old and comes to us from an Ohio shelter. She is just a pup, learning all those normal puppy things still. She’s very sweet with every person she meets, and so far has done well with the foster dogs she is living with – she yaps at them excitedly in her puppy voice!

Sydney is a very pretty girl pulled from a very high kill shelter in Southern Illinois. She is very sick right now, she is at our vets, and they are doing all they can for her. UPDATE: Sydney has pneumonia, and is also HW positive. This poor girl has not had a good life - any help for her care is greatly appreciated. Sydney is all better! Mighty Joe (aka Dakota) - 465

This handsome mature fellow is quite a looker! And he is a nice boy too - housebroken and knows basic obedience, walks well on a leash. His parents were unable to keep him, as they had human kids that this big fellow didn't care for. He is great with adults, loves to be snuggled.....he just doesn't care for little kids. MIGHTY JOE has a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and needs surgery. We need to raise $900 for his surgery - can you help us? Mighty Joe also has a wonderful adoptive home waiting for him post-op. Poor Grover is in need of medical attention - the shelter he is in has tried very hard to get him into a rescue where he can get the rest of the care and treatment he needs. Kira is a young girl, small in stature, about 9-10 months old. She was an owner turn-in at a shelter, they didn’t have time for the poor girl! She is very nice, appears to do well with other dogs, and enjoys her walks on leash without pulling. We don’t think she has received a lot of TLC in her short time, but is learning to like ear-scratches and belly-rubs! She is a youngster, so she has lots of energy.

Carson is a sad sweet one year old boy that was dumped by his owner for killing small animals (chickens). Malamutes do have a prey drive.....so Carson was just doing what comes naturally to him. He is very shy for a youngster too - we wouldn't be surprised if his previous owner didn't treat him very well. He is a very nice boy, and does well with female dogs. He is also an escape artist, and appears to have some separation anxiety.

LB is an easygoing (and huge!) 6-7 year old fellow, very friendly and sweet. The shelter said he was not good with other dogs - but he seems to be dog tolerant - he does not seem to want to go after dogs walking near him, he just may prefer to be the only dog in the household. LB has very nice manners!

Sassy Sasha (aka Sasha) was born Jan 2005. She is a high energy lovable girl who aims to please. If she is excited and lacking attention she lays down on the ground and swims with her front paws. loves to lay around all day and nap. He will eat anything and if something is
left out on the countertops he sure will try. He loves to play around and is easy to train as well. Between the two he rules the roost. They are both great with kids, neither one interested in swimming besides a good mud puddle. They are both lovable and great family dogs and play great together.

She seems to get along with calm male dogs. She would love a calm home, with lots of love to spoil her! She does have some separation anxiety.She loves to be cuddled and brushed, and loves tummy rubs. What a sweetheart!
