Chip - 836
Meet Chip! He is a sweet as can be one year old Malamix found stray downstate. They were sure he was just lost and his owner would come looking for him, as he is sweet, friendly, well cared for, and was wearing a new collar. But no owner came, so IAMRA agreed to help. This sweet fellow is just over a year old and by the looks of his big paws, is still growing! He is a happy fellow with lots of energy and loves to play. He is showing himself to be almost all dog friendly! Adopted December 2015
Kodiak - 835
Kodiak is a senior boy, about 8 years old or so, that came in heartworm positive. He has been staying at the vet's while going through heartworm treatment and has had a rough go of it. As soon as he is feeling better and gets his second heartworm treatment, he will be moved to a foster where he can recover quietly. Adopted December 2015
Momma Mia - 834
Momma Mia comes from a home situation where the family just didn't have time for her, and to relieve her boredom, she escaped several times and got to know the local animal control very well. She is big, boisterous, has very little manners, and will need someone experienced in northern breeds and training them. Adopted November 2015
Indie - 833
Indie is a beautiful 12-18 month old girl that was found stray and was going to be given away "free to good home" when her owners could not be found. Thankfully a good Samaritan intervened and made sure she came to rescue - just in time too, as she was coming into heat! Adopted October 2015
Uno - 832
Uno is a 2 -3 year old male that came in from the Tazwell, IL shelter. The shelter reports that he seems to do well with other dogs, and generally has some manners. More as we get to know him. Adopted September 2015
Rin - 831
Runt is a 5 year old female malamute and came in with Luke, Millie, Angel and John. She is very sweet, though shy, and needs someone who has the patience to let her know the world isn't such a scary place. She would probably do best with a family that has another (male) dog. Adopted August 2015
Enoch - 830
Enoch is a very handsome one year old male who was turned into an area shelter - we cannot imagine why, he is bright and handsome. Upon initial evaluation, he loves to play, pulls on a leash (he is a puppy still!) and seems okay with some other dogs. Enoch will need a northern breed experienced owner, and a secure fenced in back yard. Adopted July 2015
Zorro - 829
Zorro is from MO, around 12 - 18 months old. If you are looking for a jogging or biking partner, this is your boy! He has endless energy, and is always on the go. He can be choosy about his canine companions, but should do well with females that can keep up his pace! As with all puppies, he is in need of some obedience training, but is a very sweet boy. McGee - 828
McGee was surrendered by his owners because they couldn't afford to treat him. He is around 2 years old, horrifically thin, and sadly blind. We're not quite sure what happened with his eyes, but they have been removed as there was nothing left to save. There is no chance this boy will ever see again. He will need a lot of special vet care. He is apparently the sweetest trusting boy despite all his problems and has been proven to be all malamute with his counter surfing abilities!

Bruce - 827
King/Bruce seems to be a very nice dog. He is house broken, potties on leash - walks well on a leash too – not exactly “heel” – but walks calmly on a slack leash. He needs work on commands but is willing to please. He is SWEET. Likes to be near you and be petted, but doesn’t climb all over you. He's a great dog who was previously someone's pet and was treated decently.

Fen - 826
Fen will be 2 in November, and was surrendered when his family lost their housing. He knows a few basic commands, is reasonable with a variety of other non dominant dogs, and is great with people. He is quite the escape artist though, so a secure home is a must. He is young and energetic, so his ideal person or family is an active one, to help him burn off all his energy and not become destructive when bored. Adopted May 2015
Koda and Dana - 824 and 825
10 year old male malamute Koda and 9 year old shepherd Dana came in from IA due to the loss of their home. They are a wonderful pair of seniors. Koda is laid back, easygoing, a low-maintenance kind of fellow, happy to trot along on walks and get belly rubs. Dana adores him, and follows him everywhere he goes! She is a bit younger and has more energy, but they are very good together, and would love a home to call their own for their senior years. Both are in excellent health.

Hope - 823
Hope is from Crawford County Humane Society that got her in most likely as a stray. She was *severely* underweight and the shelter has put a ton of work into her. Hope is a real sweetheart with people, is choosey about her doggie companions but does OK with some males, and is not at all fond of cats. Adopted May 2015
Sakari - 822
Sakari is an owner surrender and was turned in with Tikaani and Meeshka. She is 4 years old, is a very friendly, easygoing girl. Sakari does well with some male dogs. Adopted May 2015
Chloe - 821
Chloe is a female malamute that was relinquished to animal control after being badly neglected. She came in severely underweight, but has made great strides and is gaining the weight back. Chloe is currently settling into her foster home - more info as we get to know her. Adopted March 2015

is a very sweet happy girl but make no mistake, she is all malamute in
attitude, and would do best in a home that has some northern breed

Taylor - 819
Treva and Taylor are very sweet, but very shy, dogs that came to us from Kentucky, they were dumped by their “breeder” and are about 2-3 years old. We are guessing that they didn’t get a lot of early socialization – they are as sweet as they can be, but take a little while to warm up and feel safe and relax. Once they get to know you, they are all wiggles and kisses. Adopted December 2014
Meeshka - 818
Meeshka is a 6 month old female pup that was turned in with Sakari and Tikaani. Sweet little Meeshka just wants to be loved, climb in your lap, and give tons of puppy kisses! She is an energetic pup, and needs training, but she is very much a pleaser and is a smart little girl. Adopted December 2014
Lobo - 817
This is Lobo. He was picked up stray in Jackson County, and no one came for him. He is about 9 years old, and in very good health - all of his lab work came back great! He is decent with other dogs as long as they like him, and is a real sweetheart with people - loves attention and really likes food! December 2014
Loki - 816
Loki is a smart, loving, highly social 6-yr-old male who was adopted from IAMRA in 2009, but his family circumstances have changed, and he needs to find a new home.
He does very well with adults and children of all ages, and was even a regular visitor to his former owner’s preschool class. He loves socializing with other dogs, and plays well with all breeds and sizes (though other Mals are his favorites!). He has extensive behavioral training, is a quick learner, and is great on a leash. Adopted October 2014

Luke - 815
Luke is a 6 year old malamute and came in with Runt, Millie, Angel and John. They lost their home when their family fell on hard times. Luke likes to give us his opinion on just about everything - he's quite the talker ! Luke would do well in a home that has malamute experience, older children (over the age of 15) and a female dog. Annabella - 814
AnnaBella is a two year old girl out of time at the Perry County Shelter in downstate IL. AnnaBella loves to play chase with a ball and will even play fetch upon occasion. She is also a talker and enjoys telling you about her day and her opinion of certain matters. AnnaBella loves people but can be choosey with her other doggie companions. Adopted October 2014
Mora - 813
Mora is a 5 month old female rescued by a good samaritan. She is a typical pup, very playful and right now gets along with most other dogs though that may change as she matures. She walks well on leash and sits for treats, and seems relatively housebroken. She is also crate trained. Adopted October 2014

Clark is a young male that was pulled from an animal shelter in KY. He so far has shown to be good with children, other dogs and is reportedly good with cats. Clark is a really sweet boy! Adopted September 2014
Lamb Chop - 811
LC is an adorable, very fluffy, 4 month old pup from downstate. He arrived covered in fleas and ticks and full of worms, but is better now! He would love the company of another dog to show him the ropes, and would do best in a home with another dog. Adopted August 2014

This big handsome 4 year old male was out of time in a Wisconsin shelter. He is good with people, but does not like any other dogs, so this fellow is seeking an adult, malamute experienced home where he can be the only canine. Adopted August 2014

Tikaani is a 3 year old male who came in with Sakari and Meeshka. What a handsome long coat Tikaani is! And he is as nice as he is handsome. He has some manners, and likes to be brushed, which is good, much brushing will be needed to keep his gorgeous coat in shape. Adopted August 2014

Bear is a 4 1/2 month old malamute shepherd mix. Bear is a sweet social pup who has a lot of shepherd mannerisms. He has made himself right at home with his new 2 and 4 legged pals at Zen dogs, learning doggy manners and social skills, and will be started with some initial basic training. Adopted June 2014

Jed is a 2 year old male from Wheaton. Handsome Jed hasn’t met anyone he doesn’t like, dogs and humans alike. He is a well mannered boy, and even knows a few tricks. This is Aragorn, one of the Aluk dogs from the Montana bust. Poor Aragorn is one of the most shy and needy of the 160+ dogs confiscated in the sad situation. Many of you followed his story, when he escaped from his new adoptors, and was on the lam for 21 grueling days. Adopted June 2014

Prince is an 18 month old male from AWL that was surrendered due to his owner moving to a foreign country. His name says it all – this young boy is a real prince! He is well mannered and friendly, good with most other dogs, and completely enjoys the company of all humans. He is one of the sweetest guys we have met! Adopted June 2014

Friday was pulled from a downstate shelter. This darling little mal-mix is not even a year old, and while small in size, he is big in personality! He is a very happy pup that seems to get along just fine with everyone he meets two legged or four. Adopted May 2014

Samoea came in with Roamer - the shelter estimated her age at 12 years old. She's a sweet girl, who tries at dignity but Roamer soon drags her into clowning around herself. As the weight has been coming off, they act much younger than 8 and 12. March 2014

Roamer came in with Samoea due to a foreclosure - the shelter estimated his age as around 8 years old. When Roamer came in, he was so obese he could barely walk. As the weight has been coming off of him, his true personality is coming out, and he's ALL clown and surprisingly agile for the amount of excess weight he is still carrying. March 2014

Forrest the puppy was found stray, no collar, no tags, no chip, and even after an extensive search, his owners could not be found. Our big thanks to the Lake Forest Police Department, especially his best friend at the Dept, Ed, who took great care of him, and Chief Held, for making sure Forrest made it safely to rescue! Storm is a handsome 3 year old fellow who was turned into rescue (with his buddy Windy, who is currently undergoing HW treatment) when his humans could no longer care for them. He is a friendly, happy fellow who seems to do well with non dominant female dogs. He doesn’t have many manners, but is friendly and food motivated, so he will learn quickly. Hunter is a big love! This 5 year old came to us from Fulton County. He is snuggly with people, and does well with non dominant dogs. No cats though, he finds them just a little too interesting. Hunter would be a great companion for someone looking to do fun activities with their mal, and at the end of the day have a big snuggly dog to hang out with. Adopted December 2013.

Yes, Sweetie is a husky! We came upon this stray girl accidentally (she found us) and we just couldn’t turn her away. She is full of energy and plays well with large and small dogs of both genders. She is very cuddly with people and seems to do well with children. She is probably about 4 - 5 years old and is house trained. Adopted December 2013.

Poor Chuck was a neglect case. He has come a long way, with the help of some very wonderful friends, but still has a ways to go. He needs an adult home (no children!!!) with substantial malamute experience that can take this handsome diamond in the rough, and help him become the good boy he is meant to be. Skye is a 6 year old female who lost her family due to the economy. So far, she seems to be accepting of other dogs and has a canine companion in her foster home. She is sweet and loving with people and generally appears to be a very nice girl. Adopted October 2013

Despite his age, he needs an active lifestyle and does not like to be left alone. Meet Bijou! She was found as a stray, and no owners came forward for her. The wonderful folks at South Suburban Humane made sure she got safely into our care. Bijou is about 5 years old, and is a very sweet girl - and very pretty too - but she is Heart Worm Positive. Adopted June 2013

She does have a lot of energy and will enjoy a nice yard and active lifestyle. While with us, she went through two ACL repair surgeries. She is recovering well and ready to find a home of her own. Jitterbug is a 4 year old female from the Montana bust. She is very charming and full of playful energy. Jitterbug gets along with almost everyone she meets, canine or human, and just can't get enough attention. She's a very fast learner and eager to please. Jitterbug will require a yard with a secure, 6 foot fence. Adopted April 2013

Lefty was pulled from high kill Chicago shelter. He's about 18 months old, and while a sweet boy, can be an opportunistic button pusher - very intelligent - enough to know when he can take advantage. So a malamute experienced home would be best for him. He currently has some resource guarding issues, which he is making progress on but a home without small children would be most suitable. Lobo is a very very shy fellow, about 4 years old. He spent his life on a chain, then found himself in a kill shelter when he was no longer wanted. He will be a great dog, for someone that will let him know he is loved, and that people can be trusted. He does well with female dogs so far, and would probably like a buddy to hang out with.

This little girl came into IAMRA in pretty sad shape, but is now in a foster home and well on her way to recovery. She's still a little peanut with all that comes along with being a puppy. Aragorn (From Montana Seizure) - 749
Aragorn is one of the 33 released dogs from the Montana Malamute Seizure. He's only a year old, but the last 9 months he's been held in boarding. So even though he's been well cared for, he hasn't had much socialization in his short life. He's very timid with people, but he seems to be okay with other dogs at this time. Aragorn is still very young, so with some TLC he should grow to trust humans again.

Tank - 748
He look smaller in the pics – Tank is a tank – he weighs 94 pounds! Tank is about 3 years old, and while he needs to learn some manners, he has been great with all people (adults) that he has met so far. He seems interested/tolerant of other dogs, would probably do well with a female that wasn’t too dominant. He is yet untested with children. We aren’t sure of his house manners, as he is kenneled, but he keeps his kennel clean, so it’s likely he has house experience. He would love an active home with a big yard, he is strong and energetic.

BEAR is a darling long coated boy, about 18-24 month old. He is outgoing and sweet, and good with other dogs, and might even be cat tolerant! He loves to cuddle with people and is quickly learning house manners in his foster home. He would do best in a home without small children, but he is good with older children. Beautiful long coated Kaya wound up in an Iowa shelter. We can't imagine why anyone would give up this darling not-quite two year old girl! She is dog friendly, kid friendly, and has nice house manners! She does have some separation anxiety and is skilled at escaping crates, but with proper exercise and precautions, she's grown better with the crate when left alone.

Benny is one of IAMRA's Mini-Mals. He is a youngster, but is very people attentive and wants to please. He is sweet, sweet, sweet! The shelter Benny came from was so captivated by his gentle nature and dog and people positive personality, that they sought out rescue as a new hope for him. However, saving a life does not always come easy. Poor little Benny must have had some kind of an accident ...prior to coming to the rescue because he had an injury which required his tail to be amputated and left him fecal incontinent.
